A Member of the Alberta Geothermal Team Geothermal has quickly become one of the most common heating and cooling systems installed over the past 10 years. The benefits of this type of system are many, from operational cost savings to having a far superior comfort level. With the constant upward direction the prices of fossil fuels are and will be taking in the future, many people are installing Geothermal to ensure that their heating and cooling cost remain low. Other people are installing Geothermal the help maintain a healthier environment and do their part in keeping the air cleaner. When putting in a geothermal unit the best method is to put it in with a horizontal or vertical ground loop. Some properties are just not adequate for this type of system. . In this case the city water system is in effect a very large ground loop system.. The utilization of this existing ground loop has far reaching implications and benefits to reducing the overall environmental footprint for a building while also reducing the environmental footprint for the entire community. The attached is a summary on putting geothermal into new and existing buildings and attaching the system into the city water main on a bypass system. |
